Thanks for your help but I am in a bit of a flap, the Ann Beck I am enquiring about b 1875 Maryport Cumberland the daughter of Richard Beck and Margaret Ann Costin b Sept 1849 had a sister called Fanny b 1879, according to my wife who is the grandaughter of Ann she was known as Francis Ann, yet when her birth certificate turned up after her daughter Francis Irene Teare died the certificate just called her Ann, father Richard Beck mother Margaret Ann Costin all from Maryport, surely with a daughter called Francis Ann and one called Fanny well I am unsure of this.
