Finding a birthplace

Hello, I need help please trying to find the birthplace of an ancestor.(Samuel Thompson).

He is listed on 1841 as aged 60, puttimg his birth around 1781. However I have found a mention of his birth date as 1777.
He was married in 1804 to Deborah Outram in London (St George's, Hanover Square - I have a copy of the entry)
I had thought that he had died abt 1850 in Weston under Lizard, Staffs. However, I found him listed in an 1851 trade directory on Staffs Council site. He was a carpenter and joiner to the Earl of Bradford at Weston Hall.(Although this coud also be his son listed, also Samuel born 1810, but he was listed as Master Carpenter, employing 6 men, on 1851 Census).

Any suggestions as to what I might do next or any links would be much appreciated
Regards

Deborah Outram was from Eyam, Derbyshire

If he was born in 1881 how can he be listed in the 1841 census

Gary remember that ages of adults in the 1841 census were supposed to be rounded down to multiples of 5 years. So your Samuel could have been between 60 and 64 years old at the time of the 1841 census and therefore may well have been born in 1777.

1851 Deborah Thompson born Eyam a widow at sons house
Thomas Thompson 1821 staffs a carpenter
mary ann wife 1820 Eyam.
Address Clerkenwell D16 > 7

So it looks like Samuel 1777 died 10th march 1850.

Thanks for that. I've been using a ten year range from 1775 to 1785

Thanks @maryb. A couple of contacts suggest that Samuel's (1777) parents were William and Jane. That's all they have. No dates, and not clear how they came up with this.

On the copy of marriage entry does it give the witnesses or any other names.

Found it now it says in the presence of J Smith and Godfrey Bradshaw.

There was a Godfrey Bradshaw christened in Old brampton Deryshire 23/6/1772 by William.

Godfrey Bradshaw married in Bakewell 1/2/1796 to a Lydia Broomhead.
Could he be the witness?

There seems to be alot of connections to Derbyshire.

Did Samuel and Deborah's son Thomas born 1821 marry into the Bullock family of Eyam Derbyshire i.e Mary Ann 1818 and Louisa Martha Bullock parents William Bullock and Margaret nee Youle?

Thanks Mary. I think the Derbyshire connection is getting stronger. The only confusion being that Samuel was in the employ of Earl Of Bradford, he seems to be moving around a lot. So have a few London connections too. Yes you're right about the Bullock family. I found that after one of your earlier posts.

So thanks very much for your hard work. . . have a William and Mary in 1777 for Derbyshire too.

I've now found a reference to another son of Samuel, a George Thompson, 1806 on IGI. This could mean that the father of Samuel is also George Thompson, again possibly from Derbyshire.
