There were no penaties until 1875 for not registering births.....this chap's may simply not have been registered.

But........without having firm info about where he was born, searching would be futile.

What was his father's stated occupation?

Looking for birth of William John Clark or Clarke about 1850. Married in Liverpool in 1874. On 1881 census says he was born in Southampton, Hampshire and on 1891 census born in Warwicks, Wolverhampton. Found a William Clark born in Nether Heyford Northampton with correct father of Adam. Not sure if this is correct one. Can any one help please?
