No Harrisons then to make the search easier. Never mind. He's bound to turn up eventually. Will take another look and see if I can find him.

1874 was given as Elizabeths birth date not the date of the marriage. .
Does the marriage cert state that he was a bachelor Jacqueline and who were the witnesses please.

Mike * Report 3 Nov 2010 23:32

It was the marriage of "1874" which threw me. (where did that date come from?) ... was actually 1905

I assume you haven't got John's birth certificate yet?

Hi Mark

John Harrison was my Grandfathers name , I was trying to find his fathers name and was asked to get a copy of his birth certificate to establish his fathers name and occupation as this would help you to trace my great grand father

Clarification please >.........

Your title says looking for John Harrison.

Your post says looking for Great Grandfather who you now say was called Thomas .

As John was born 1870, I assumed it was his father's marriage to Elizabeth Utton in 1874 ...

Turns out the marriage was 1905

Hi Jackie - do you know his occupation and roughly when he was born?

It would also be useful if you could say who your grandfather married, as we can sometimes trace parents that way.
