Find Ancestors

Thomas Davies was a collier in the Porth area, married to Rosina Phillips on the 15/04/1914 Registered in Pontpridd. They had a son named Emrys born on 07/03/1916. Thomas`s father was named as Benjamin on the marriage certificate. I am unable to find the birth certificate for Thomas. Can anyone help me Please. Geoff

One big question is: what was Thomas's age on the marriage certificate?

It could be posible to find him in the 1911 census, but his age is needed for checking.

Also, his occupation, his father's occupation, his address at the time of marriage, and the names of the witnesses. Any bit of info that you have and we don't could help!

The info about Rosina could help too -- age, father, address -- just to see where she was in censuses and whether Thomas was nearby.

Could be ... but there were others in 1901, which is why I figured I'd wait for answers ... i.e. the info that the "how to use the trying to find board" suggests should be provided, i.e. all the info available ...

e.g.

Thomas Davies Benjamin, Margaret abt 1886 Trealaw, Glamorgan, Wales Son Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan (Pontypridd reg dist)

Thomas Davies in Wales are ten a penny.
Many men went from all over Wales to work in the mines,he could have been born anywhere.
Without ALL the info from the marriage cert it will be a needle in a haystack to even find him on Census,if then...

Here he is, I think: -- no, I thought he was Thomas O. Davies, grandson, in Conwil, but that one is more likely the son of unmarried daughter Letitia in the household. But hmm, if she were to be Ben's sister, for instance, it could be that Tom was really Ben's nephew ... so I'll include this here for consideratin:

Cany see him on 1891 at all,Young Tom,the one with Ben and Rachel on 1901 I mean.

But penny to a pound Rachels maiden name will come up as JONES on a childs birth cert...
But of course I have been known to be wrong ..:)
I would not bother searching for a Thomas Davies birth but look for Robert Griffith Davies or another less common siblings name and get the mothers maiden name from that.
You can send to Carmarthen reg office for Thomas Davies c1886 birth cert,cost £10.00 plus SAE.
It will take 3 wks at least to get a reply on if they have found it or not and most times they say they cant,they are the worst reg office in Wales to deal with.
Trust me,,I know !
Much better to send for one of his siblings births from the GRO.
Or even Pontypridd reg office.
