This is a poser. My maternal grandmother habitually lied as did her mother in law, but facts: my mother was born to Ivy Holly Green (aged 23) and Arthur George Fenn in 1913. They were married in 1912 in Coventry. In 1914 she had a son Douglas who died a month old. In 1920 she had another son Peter but called herself Yvonne Fitzgerald Fenn on the b/c. The marriage broke down at that point. In 1922 she married again to Oswald Richardson, her age have only increased to 24! She also claimed to be a spinster. On her m/cs her father is stated as William Green, an Anglican clergyman (deceased). I have no further information about her past. She died as Yvonne Richardson in 1942. Am really keen to learn something about her. She was always referred to as being Irish, but whether originally or not I have no idea. |

Who were the witnesses to the marriages? What about the address listed on the 1912 marriage? Have you searched for that in 1911? |

Might it be possible to try and source something like Crockford's Clerical Directory to see if there were many clergymen named William Green in the right period to be Ivy's father? |

Unfortunately the address in 1912 seems to be a lodging house and they don't appear to br there in 1911 census. He was working with BSA at the time, I will try and see if their records can assist. Interestingly I found an Ivy Green from a family in Foleshill village (but that is not really close to Foleshill Road which is in Coventry) and other details don't match. If I live long enough I may find her with a place of birth in the 1921 returns! Ruth |
