Joseph Hill - a Birmingham baker

I've hit a real brick wall. I'm trying to find a date/year of death for my step-great grandfather Joseph Hill, born 1889 in Birmingham.
He was a baker / confectioner at 126 Hockley Hill, Birmingham, and was here, according to Kelly's directory, until 1936. His widow Nellie Hill (née Farmer, whom he married in 1909) married my g-grandad in 1943 in Birmingham - she is a widow then according to the marriage certificate. She may have divorced him, as on the electoral roll I can only find them living together until 1922.
So, Joseph obviously died some time between 1936 and 1943, but I can't find him anywhere (FreeBMD, Ancestry) - I've also tried looking for obituaries, wills, but still nothing.
I think my only chance now may be to hope that one of his descendants may read this! If anyone else can suggest any other avenues, I'd be very grateful.

Have you tried a search on this site to see if anyone else is looking for the family?
I could not find the death of an ancestor, as his "widow" remarried, but then found him still alive, and "married" to someone else - they had both "remarried" bigamously.

Thanks for info Liz, yes, have tried on here, but no one else as yet researching him directly. I'll check to see if he maybe married someone else...
