Alexander (McConnell) Young was born circa. 1825. B.D.M. Records show his place of birth as Bristol (marriage), Jamaica (William Henry's birth certificate) and Scotland (shipping records).

Alexander arrived in Victoria in 1854 aboard "Caldera" and went to Ballarat soon after. Shipping records indicate his age on arrival was 27 years. He may have travelled to Australia with a brother, George.

On October 29, 1859, he married Margaret White at St Alipius Chapel, Ballarat. The marriage certificate held at the church in Ballarat shows Alexander's parents as Alexander Young and Mary O'Connell, his father being a sugar planter of Jamaica.

Our research has not been able to locate and records of Alexander Young's birth or his parents - in Scotland, Bristol or Jamaica.

If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Anne

Cannot see a marriage for parents or births for them and Alexander in Family Search or Scotalnd's People.
