Since writing this I have been in touch with someone who actually had the marriage certificate of Alex and his father was called edward. born in Whitechapel. So I was totally wrong on this.It was only that my father told me that his ancestors came from Scotland that I thought I was on the right road. Never mind kinda of getting there now . I have come to a full stop on my fathers side.Alex was born 1831.All I get is that his father was Colin Martin 1791 who was married to sarah unknown. colin was born in scotland I think that colin father was Archibald born in scotland but this is where I am stuck. Any help would be appreciated. regards christine martin
