But Alfred never got divorced, and the lady he went off with was called we think, Gertrude Knubley/Nubley.

So I don't think that this is correct.

Hi Jane, I have found the probate records. "Alfred Shaw of 42 Russell Road, Northolt Park, Middlesex dies 7th August 1930. administration London 25th October to Margaret Jane Shaw, widow. Effects £297"

Hello
I am trying to find any information about Alfred Robert Shaw born
June 8th 1883 in Northampton. He left his wife and children and went away with another lady in 1920 we know this as his only son now deceased was born shortly after he left so he never saw his son.

We think that he was going to emigrate but that didn't work out so he went to London to work we think as a postman. It has been passed down through the family that he had a child with his new lady.

We know that he died somewhere after1926 and we think 1940 but no one is sure as he seems to have dissapeared. One reason being way back somebody seems to think that he changed his name so as not to be found. I have searched the death records and found nothing.

So if there you are a distant relative or you know who is please get in touch as it would be nice to know what happened to him. I would love to hear from you how and where he ended up and also where he is buried. This would be the last part of my jigsaw and then I can put it away for good.
