Hi im wondering if anyone would be able to help me im looking for a marriage but as yet have had no luck. I am looking for the marriage of an Edward Jackson who was from Lincolnshire. I believe he would have been in London in hospital at the time of the marriage or got married very shortly after. He served in Dunkirk and was injured as a result. We know his wifes name was Monica but we dont have a surname. We believe they got married in 1940/1941. Any information would be gratefully received.
Thanks, Lou

Sorry, cannot see marriage on ancestry (free bmd does not have complete coverage for those years).
Any possibility that Monica or Edward were second names, and so only showing as M or E?
As Porkie Pie said, any children, or any further information?
Thanks

No they had no children. His injuries sustained left him unable to have children. As for him, his first name was Edward and he was born in 1910 i believe. I'll double check that though as now ive written it i doubt myself lol
Thanks Lou

That is exactly the man :) I only know because i knew his mothers name (its my husbands family you see)
How do i go about finding a marriage for him and a woman who may or may not be Monica? I know that sounds terribly odd but we arent sure if her name was Monica or if that was a middle name she went by. There also wont be a birth record for her (well probably not in her ''current'' name) as she was a foundling. Its all very confusing. This is definately the place to be asking though as I know everyone on here is so much better at finding this kind of thing than i am, as per usual im not seeing the wood for the trees.
Thanks again.

Do you fancy a Marian, or a Maud, not a Monica?
Edward Jackson is a fairly common name.
If you are not sure if definitely in London from 1940 to 1942 then there are lots of records to go through, and if not Monica at all then..............

Thanks guys. Yes they lived in Lincolnshire and its likely it was in Sudbrooke. I would also say its very likely that is our lady as it also fits the time my mother in law said she died, she remembers her sons were young but couldnt give a year. Thank you for your help guys. I am going to try Gladys Monica marriages and see what i find, fingers crossed. Thanks aswell Patchem, i guess it could be possible as we really werent sure at all. I shall keep an open mind and a notepad handy :)

Colin, I think that is the correct death record as it matches the dates i was given from family. I will definately have to look into the marriage but i guess it could be the right people, just need to find out if it is and im nt sure how lol. Would be so much easier if they had any children.

Thanks for all your help.

If his wife outlived him, she probably registered his death.

If the 1995 death is his wife/widow, her maiden name will be on her death cert
