I'm stuck trying to find birth details of two relatives of my wife. One of them is Thomas Patrick McBarron (Also known as Sonny). I have his marriage certificate 12/5/1945 which gives his age as 26, so born Abt. 1919. I've had no luck with an indexed birth search using the surname McBarron, Barron, MacBarron and also Rogan (Rogan was his mum's maiden name). I have traced brothers and sisters, Hugh (B 1908 Sunderland), James (B1910 Sunderland), Elizabeth (B 1912 Devonport), John (B & D 1913 Devonport), George (B1915 Devonport), John Dennis(Wifes dad B 1922 Sunderland), Isabella (B1925 Sunderland), Sonia (B 1929 Sunderland). In the gap between George (191) and John Dennis (1922) the family reckon there were two other uncles - Thomas Patrick and Ernest. I'm still waiting on GRO sending me the Marriage cert of Ernest but can I heck find a birth index entry. |

I've had a look on Ancestry, sorry like yourself I can't find anything for either of them. Don't despair if they existed some of the excellent researchers on here will find them. |

Wow!! Tempest & Catherine. That has confirmed some of the information I had and given me pointers to their births. Where do you get your info from? I can't find Ernest McBarron's death on the Dec qtr index for 1978. However his two marriage entries confirm as his first wife died soon after they were married. I'll now go digging further, based on the Death Certificates given birth dates. Many thanks to you both. |

Bit odd, the original census was signed by the next door neighbour Mary Whitford Boyle (but the writing on the form was not her's), wonder if there was a connection? |

Scottish certs ordered. \thanks once again. The McBarrons originated in Ireland, settled for a while in Dumbartonshire and then moved to Sunderland. No one in the family made mention of Edinburgh which is my home town. |
