I am trying to find a Margaret Williams born' Garndiffaith 'Monmouthshire c. 1851 her father was a collier John Williams . Margaret married George Samson Cooper (a collier from the Forest of Dean) March (9th) 1874 in the parish Church of Llanhilleth. Their eldest son John was born in Wales regd in Pontypool area...they then went to Platt Bridge in Lanc. where 2 daughters were born Mary Ann and Florence Elizabeth. Returned to the Forest of Dean and remained there. Children born in the Forest Glos. area /Annie/Frederick/ Arthur/ Ellen...my grandmother Annie spoke of the Varteg area where she visited with her Mother (Margaret Cooper neeWilliams) The names are so common I have run up against one brick wall after another..)Help please Margaret Newcombe |

Sorry I did'nt answer one of your questions...several possibilities with John and Margaret on Census' but nothing really concrete...one possibility is Sowhill but the Mothers name is Jane..I feel I would have remembered if my Grandmother Annie had mentioned that name...I do remember her saying a Martha was in the family unfortunately I cannot remember what relation she was...Margaret |
