I know that the surname jones in wales is proably the worst one but...
my dad alan lewis jones born in 1957 in glamorganshire, his dad(my grandad) was david lyn jones, ive got no birth date. Is there anyway of finding out? I am not 100% sure but i am assuming he was born in glamorganshire as well.

Where on alans marriage cert would you find this? i cant seem to find it, the only ages ive got are for my parents.

Do you have Alan's birth cert giving his parents names?

What was the maiden name of your grandmother?
This will enable you to find the marriage cert. of your granparents, which will give you your granddads age so you can work out his date of birth.
It will also give you his father's name which will help if you wish to go further back.

i dont know anything about that part of the family, i only have the fathers name because of the marriage cert, i will have to get the birth cert first to get the ages. Was hoping there would be a cheaper way of doing it

If you go to the section on here called.. Search Trees... and look for Alan born in the same year and area, there is possibly someone else who has them in their tree.
Click on their name to contact them about a possible link.

Can't see a marriage for David Jones (with or without the 'L') to anyone with the MMN as per Alan's birth reg'n

You really need Alan's birth cert.........it may be that his mother had been married more than once......

This is a VERY long shot....................and would need verification
