'In the census returns from 1871 through to 1901'
no ...... 1881 through 1901 ?
as I said it really is a lot more helpful if you post copies
Henry Langham international man of mystery
there never was a Henry Langham in Berkshire, born married died census
a late christening might not be unusual for instance if his mother married and his stepfather took him on as his son
this could suggest that Parker was a stepfather's name
I guess I'll look for the 1881 census adn see what Sarah's marital status was .....
Name: Henry Parker Age: 26 Estimated birth year: abt 1855 Relation: Head Mother's name: Sarah Parker Gender: Male Where born: Wokingham, Berkshire, England Civil Parish: Newland County/Island: Berkshire
widowed .......... which doesn't necessarily mean she was, lol
Name: Sarah Parker Age: 58 Estimated birth year: abt 1823 Relation: Mother Gender: Female Where born: Bray, Berkshire, England

The only Henrys in Wargrave born 1854-1857, in 1861 are
..... right so in the 20 minutes I was searching, you posted that you meant 1871 so I've deleted that
1871
Name: Henry Parker Age: 16 Estimated birth year: abt 1855 Relation: Boarder Gender: Male Where born: Wokingham, Berkshire, England Civil Parish: Hurst Ecclesiastical parish: St Nicholas Town: Whistley in Hurst County/Island: Berkshire Country: England Registration district: Wokingham Sub-registration district: Wargrave
William Why 50 Catherine Why 51 she was Catharine Lewis married 1841 Sarah Why 22 Mary Why 16 Albert Why 13 Louisa Why 11 Hagar Why 8 Henry Parker 16 Susan Livermore 70 Mary Allen 84
he was in Hurst not Wargrave, at least at Ancestry you can't search by registration district, it really is a lot more helpful if you post the details and we don't have to go searching for them

Hi, I've only gone and pressed the wrong button and deleted my last reply. As you may have guessed i'm new to this so sorry if I babble on. I have found Henry Parker in the 1861 census living with a family named Why in Davis Street,Wargrave,Berkshire. I have also come accross a christening dated September 1865 when he would have been 10(isnt that a bit old) also in Wargrave. His parents are named as Henry and Sarah. Here goes the odd bit. On Henry's marriage cert his father is named as a Henry Langham? and the witnesses as an Arthur May and a Miriam May. In the census returns from 1871 through to 1901 his mother is always a Sarah Parker but with differing ages and born in Bray, Berkshire. Mmm not sure if I like this family history stuff as Iv'e now got brain ache.

you have found the marriage at freebmd ?
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl
you need to order the certificate to find his age and his father's name and that could give you a much better chance of finding him in censuses
if you do have that marriage certificate that's part of the information you need to give when it says give all the info you have
his age and father's name, names of witnesses ......... ?
any little bit of information could help find him in records

Hi, I'm trying to find any info on a Henry Parker who married Sarah May in St.Catherines church,Bearwood,Reading,Berkshire in 1883. I know Henry's mother was a Sarah? from Bray born 1831. Henry died in 1927 and is burried in St,Catherines cemetery. He would be my gt.grandfather. On all the census returns from 1871 he is listed as being born in 1855 in Wokingham,Berkshire but I cant find a birth certificate there for him. Any help would be very much appreciated.
