Cough cough...Who found the "Pescott" 1901 lot to set you all on the trail then...?

Polish,polish,pat ,pat..

But well done you other lot.....I suppose.

At least he knew who his father was it would seem...Like my Nan..And did the same as her by juggling the surname of father on marriage cert to be the same as his...

MaureeninNY Report 16 Feb 2011 15:15

The more I look, the more I think that name really should be Pescott!

Look at all those matching births in Islington!

Martin as a christian name was not too common back in the 1880's so to have it as his middle name indicating that was his father looks good....but could be wrong

Edit well done Dea and Maureen looks like problem solved

Sorry Jax, I was busy searching when you posted and didn't refressh the page.

On the actual image of the idex it certainly says Pescott and it typewritten. I still think that it is a possibility especially in the absence of anything better!

Dea, I think it is worth leaving that there, at least until something eliminates these people. I am liking the look of George Martin the butcher - especially if the Pescott birth were to turn out to be Prescott!

do you mean i would be able to get his birth and death from there ? exellant, Emma certainly got around

The marriage cert you have can be viewed on ancestry His name was probably mistranscribed you can purchase the cert from

That birth for a Henry 'Martin' Pescott spurrs me on to what I have been following all morning!

PROBABLY a 'red herring' - I can't connect it but I can't let it go either !!

Perhaps someone else can explore?

I was following the one of the witnesses at Henry's wedding - Emily Prescott.

I came across 2 likely ones in Islington on 1891 but this one caught my eye as she was living in the
same house as a Perry family !

Same house also has the HUNT family but I have deleted them as probably unconnected.

I couldn't trace Emily back to 1881 and could find no marriage for an Emily to a Prescott.

This is her in 1901
(Name on image says MOSS crossed out on image and replaced by Prescott) !!
She has a visitor called Moss on 1891 so this could well be her maiden name? - Again, no marriage!)

This may all be a load of nonsense and completely unconnected - If so, I will delete it
to save confusion but in the absence of anything else to follow, I thought someone
might like to help me explore further?

Just looking at the Marriage image again, witness Emily's surname does look like Pescott...

Think that 1880 Birth find would be a good buy :-)
