Find Ancestors

I am trying to find out where John Carter born 1840 was actually born, on the 1881 census it shows as Monxton , Hampshire yet on the 1911 census it shows as Worston , Hampshire , John Carters father was James Carter who I beleive could have come from Winchester , John had I believe 3 brothers James,Robert and George.
Any help would be much appreciated.
