Raymond COOPER b.1921 place unknown, he married Evelyn WRATHMALL b. 1917 of Sunderland, they married at The Parish Church of St. Wilfred, Leed North on 26th Feb 1944, Raymond’s age on Marriage Certificate is 23 years (it was always said that Raymond had a TWIN sister but as I have been unable to trace his birth/place I cannot verify this) his father was DAVID COOPER (Deceased, no occupation given) from details on the marriage certificate – Raymond’s family was last known living in BRIDLINGTON, possibly running a Boarding House in the 1950's. Raymond died age 38 on 13th July 1959 in Sunderland, which is where he settled after his marriage. Any help with my search would be gratefully received.

If his age (23) shown on his marriage certificate on 26/2/1944 was accurate then it is more likely that he was born in 1920 rather than 1921. Have you looked at www.freebmd.org.uk to check out the Raymond Cooper births for that year as well?

If you believe that he had a twin then by comparing Cooper births with the same mothers maiden name might identify him.

Hi Jonesy

Yes, I have checked on freebmd for 2 years either way, no 2 births with same mother's maiden name, I have even thought maybe not twins but born in same year, as myself and a brother were, but negative.

I have just checked all the Cooper births between 1919 - 1922 using the Vol/Page No's from all the Raymond Cooper births of those years only one showed a twin birth of males Raymond C. and Norman W. Sept qtr 1922 mothers maiden name Smith.

Any further advice will be welcomed

Patience Flick...thank you for your efforts, yes I have already pinpointed the birth with Seal as mother and also located the marriage of Jessie to David, but they had 3 children Raymond was the 3rd child the other 2 died shortly after their birth, I have contacted the Cemetary Office as Raymond Cooper was buried my thought being they may have a full date of birth for the burial, I need sight of a birth cert that alone will confirm if there was a twin.
Many thanks again Flick, but I feel I must say not everyone sits at their PC constantly, the last response I made was around midnight last night and today I have had a very busy day.

Kind Regards
Kathleen

Your response was posted after I'd added my postings............but you obviously were so tired that you couldn't see them.

Bear in mind that a 'deceased' father on a marriage cert was frequently a figment of someone's imagination.

Also that 'stories' about twins etc are often just that.......stories.

Thank you Flick, yes I think that is what happened with the postings, thank you for all your efforts, fingers crossed I manage to have a result from the Cemetery Office, I have also emailed the Sunderland RO for advice too
