On the 1911 census Grandfather Frederick Watson stated he was born in Beverley E R Yorks abt 1871. After an exhaustive search I cannot find any record of his birth. I have his marriage cert. so know he wed Ada Thompson in 1908 in Misson, Notts. I also have his death cert. so know he died in 1938 near Hartlepool Co. Durham. He is buried with his wife in Mexborough. In every record I have he was either an agricultural labourer or farmer.

You say you have his marriage cert., so what is given as his father's name and occupation?
|
|
From a tree it looks as though his father was named as John. I also note that in 1901 Ada's age was 17.

|
Have you tried this birth certificate?

Yes I am aware of him giving an incorrect date of their marriage -- I don't know why. He also gave a false age for Ada she was only 27 yrs. I have her birth certificate. It is definitely the right family.

Yes I have found ada with dad Joseph Feilding thompson 1847 belton Lincs married to Sarah Ann Moorfoot. Ada was born 1884 not 1875. marriage A/m/J 1908 Doncaster 9c 1525.
So if Fred got those two answers wrong, what else did he did he get wrong.
I bet Ada was pleased he didn't know her age or when they got married!!!
What was there address and witnesses to marriage and his dads name and occupation?
