Perhaps the best thing to do would be to order the marriage certificate:-

Name: Fred Taylor
Spouse Surname: Welch
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1930
Registration district: Oldham
Registration county (inferred): Lancashire
Volume Number: 8d
Page Number: 2264
Find Spouse: Find Spouse

The certificate at least will give you an age for Fred and who his father was.

If you buy your grandparent's marriage certificate it should name his father:-

Name: WELCH, Ida
Registration District: Oldham
County: Lancashire
Year of Registration: 1930
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
Spouse's last name: Taylor
Volume No: 8D
Page No: 2264

Ida Welch features in your other thread

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/trying_to_find/thread/1260377

You really ought to keep to the same post ... saves researchers duplicating info ... or searching for stuff that has already been found.

Hi Mike I Know Ida is in my other thread but thought when trying to trace Fred Taylor I would have to put it in a different thread, sorry if i've got this wrong. I was just going by the names.
Thank you everyone for your help

Lynne thanks for you help but I'm not sure if its the right Fred my mum has never mentioned a auntie called Rosie, but she seems to think he had brothers Clifford, Wilf and william the latter being twins but I cant find anything to confirm this, I'll get round to ordering a birth certificate/marriage certificate (thank you also Kath)

possible marriage of parents but there are a few Taylor/Ingham marriages but this is the only one I could see in Oldham. You need Fred's birth cert to prove

Hi My mum has just told me that the Twins Wilfred and william died abroad during the 2nd world war, but she couldn't give me any more details, what is the best way of finding out (she doesn't know which branch of the forces they were in)
always grateful for any information
