Find Ancestors

Hello all,

i am trying to trace the 'clarke' side of my family tree and so i looked at the 1911 census to give me some clues. I managed to find my grand-mother (Winifred Clarke b. 1911) and her parents Felix and Emily. My grandmother is the only child in the house apart from an adopted sister.

My confusion is that my grandmother had older siblings who dont appear. I have found one of her sisters - Kathleen Cicely - in the census but the parents are john and katherine! My dad says they were def sisters.

If anyone can shed some light id really appreciate it!

Could they have been half-sisters? Perhaps the older siblings stayed with their father if the mother married again?

I can find Winifred with her parents and it definitely says on the image that only two children were born to the marriage and one of them has died. It looks like the one who died was called Evelyn and was a twin to Winifred.

Did you look at the image? It says they have had 2 children, 1 has died. So according to this no older siblings. I assume you know her father to be Felix?

I think that Dorothy on that 1911 image is a PARRY

The only Kathleen Cicely Clarke born before mid-1911:

Do you have your grandparents' marriage certificate? It will show who Winifred's father is. You can't just choose any Winifred and assume it is the right one.

do you have a death year for her? the index may confirm her age/dob
