Find Ancestors

In the 1881 and 1871 census James Tweddle is in the Stockton area, with his wife and family. The G.R. single line census for 1851 gives :-

Tweddle James 1828 Bradford Stockton
but the later census give Leeds as his birthplace.

Does the 1851 census provide any further detail on his family (parents) please as there is no sign of a birth for him in IGI about 1828.

I wonder if this could be him in 1841 ........ ages above 15 were rounded down to the nearest 5 on the 1841 Census. Not all enumerators did that, but it looks as though this one did. That's why it looks as though there are "twins".

Name change on that 1841 Census was made by the same person who made it on the 1851 ................... a Ken Pullar

The 1841 for Twerdle (Jan) could be the same family.
