Frank H. was my grandfather. Only documents i have are his death cert. & an Income Tax letter sent after his death re tax refund to my grandma.
He died 2nd Jan.1946,aged 64,so he was born c 1882. There was a story that he was Scottish, & I thought that I had found him on 1901 census,inLondon, living with mother,Mary. Traced the family back to Edinburgh; found out he was born Francis, named after his father, who was a confectioner. Was called Frank in 1901 census. My grandma was Daisy Harriet Reeve ( Harriet Daisy on her birth cert!) I have not been able to find a date of marriage for them, but their first child, Frank Henry jnr, was born 25.3.1916 at 67 Murray Rd,Ealing. On 23.12.1917 a daughter,Daisy Beryl, was born at 43 Ash Rd,Southport,Lancs. Frank snr was a Private in A.S.C. MT at that time, & this is where my research all goes to pot, because I have just found a marriage on 2.9.1917, of "my" Francis/Frank to Jane E. Rogers in London. The groom's father was "Francis Robertson, confectioner, deceased". I have to assume from this that I have not got the right Frank H.Robertson.He & Daisy returned to London between 1918-1920.4 more children were born - Joan - 1920, Betty in 1921, Bernard (my Dad) in 1924 & Raymond in 1928. Can anyone out there help, please? I just don't know where to go from here( short of following all the Frank Robertsons born around 1882!!) HELP!!
In anticipation
Susannah

Have you looked for his service records?

Susannah Report 5 Apr 2011 13:19

I have, but have been unable to tie in any of the numerous Pte Frank Robertsons in the A.S.C MT with members of my family. I don't have a Service number, so that further compounds the problem.............I do know that he was a motor mechanic before & after WWI,& he obviously used these skills in the A.S.C.
