Hi guys, sorry for now replying sooner, life and family get in the way as usual, will try trove newspapers and also will get in touch with the library in NSW to see if they can find any info on this company for me, I also believe that Messrs Walker and Co, were in England as well, but have not been able to confirm it.
Reece, Yes found the Hoyle connection, a Balson married a Hoyle and have been able to confirm that Caroline and Mary Balson were sisters, found their passage on City of Edinburgh August 1837, with a Charles Taylor who is supposedly married to Mary, but have been unable to find marriage certificate in England, as we have Mary marrying Charles's brother Robert, anyway Caroline is the one that married into the Hoyle's. and have made off site connections with them.
I have not looked gone thru all of Tony Oz;s sites, but do have a copy of his findings.

Hello Christine,

I think we might have been in contact some time ago on your Taylor and Balson names, also Hoyle. Did you find them eventually?

Have you looked at 'AUSTRALIAN RESEARCH TIPS" by Tony Oz on here - he has lists of directories and sites which might help you. He has done a wonderful service for those of us with strong links to Australia.

I have a C.J. Walker owning Newbold Station (cattle and horses including race horses and breeding so he would have been importing) but as that is on the Clarence River, NSW it probably isn't the one you're looking for. He also had a brother.

the 'NSW State Library' (on-line) has an 'Ask a Librarian' service ...they will check their many records including directories etc.

Hi A ggreat grandfather Charles Taylor was bought out to Sydney, Australia in 1837 to work for Messrs Walker and Co, I am trying to find out more info on the company and if possible how long Charles or his "wife" Mary or sister in law Caroline Balson worked for them.
I have been unable to find out any info on them once they arrived in Sydney, I know from a funeral notice 1872, that they lived around the Balmain area of Sydney later on.
If anyone is able to be of assistance it would be appreciated, I have googled the company's name but have been unable to find much regarding their operations during 1838's onwards.
