I don't think that we have found Ben and family in 1881 yet. I do think that the death that you have found RamblingRose is a distict possibility. I am possibly being over cautious as we haven't even found Ben and daughter Mary Ann together on a census.

Maria 1871 does not appear on the 1881 I take it?

there are no deaths or marriages for a Maria Parker in Fulham 1871 to 1891...

rootgatherer, just looking back at these two on the census 1891

PARKER, Mary A Granddaughter F 2 1889 Infimary Fulham
PARKER, William Grandson M 0 (10M) 1891 Infimary Fulham

both born in the infirmary ( workhouse?) that might indicate that the death i added for Mary ann in 1890 'could' fit in ?...William is 10 months so woulld have been born 1890

Deaths Dec 1890 (>99%)
Parker Mary Ann 21 Fulham 1a 209

My question is Is Maria (the 4 month old daughter of Ben in 1871) the mother of Mary Ann born 1889 please? How have we made a connection between the mother of Mary Ann and Ben? We haven't found Ben on any census with a daughter Mary Ann - or am I missing something here please?

Here's Benjamin in 1911 in case you don't have it:

PARKER, Benjamin Head Widower M 71 1840 Old Age Pensioner Middlesex Hammersmith
PARKER, George Son Single M 48 1863 Labourer General Middlesex Hammersmith
PARKER, Lizze Daughter Widow F 43 1868 Charwoman Middlesex Hammersmith
GREENAWAY, Ada Daughter Married 5 years F 31 1880 Charwoman Middlesex Hammersmith
PARKER, William Nephew Single M 22 1889 Labourer Gas Factory Middlesex Fulham
PARKER, Arthur Nephew Single M 19 1892 Labourer Gas Factory Middlesex Fulham
PARKER, Grasey Niece F 12 1899 School Middlesex Fulham
GREENAWAY, Charlie Nephew M 9 1902 School Middlesex Fulham
PARKER, Frederick Nephew M 8 1903 School Middlesex Fulham

Registration District: Fulham Sub District: North West Fulham Enumeration District: 23 Parish: Fulham

Address: 6 Bedford Place Fulham S W County: London

** On the original it says Benjamin had been married 44 years and had 7 children, 5 of which were still alive.

If you can trace 5 of his children that are still alive in 1911 then that will perhaps help solve whether or not Mary Ann b1868 lived.

Just posting a different version of the 1891 which shows the relationships and individual birthplaces:

PARKER, Benjamin Head Married M 51 1840 Labourer London Band Side
PARKER, Rachel Wife Married F 50 1841 Cheswick
PARKER, Elizabeth Daughter Single F 21 1870 Charwoman Hammersmith Ship Lane
PARKER, Arthur B Son Single M 18 1873 Labourer Hammersmith Portland Street
PARKER, Richard J Son Single M 16 1875 Labourer Hammersmith Portland Street
PARKER, Ada R Daughter F 11 1880 Hammersmith Hanover Cottage
PARKER, Mary A Granddaughter F 2 1889 Infimary Fulham
PARKER, William Grandson M 0 (10M) 1891 Infimary Fulham
HOLMES, George Son In Law Single M 24 1867 General Labourer Hammersmith Portland Street

Registration District: Fulham Sub District: Fulham Enumeration District: Ecclesiastical Parish: St Andrews St Albans

Civil Parish: Fulham Municipal Borough:

Address: 16, Chelmsford Street, Fulham County: London

George Holmes is described as being "son-in-law" but is single, this possibly implies that he is "stepson" - perhaps a child of Rachel's before her marriage to Benjamin?

Would he be Mary Ann b1868 half brother?

Linda Report 6 Apr 2011 17:15

sorry have been out, but I have a Maria listed b1870 on a previous search and she fits in with the rest of the family. but this would be from Benjamin Parker snr's family of which Benjamin b 1847 would have been a son!

The 1891c is spot on, I'm wondering if George Holmes 24 married Mary Ann Parker b 1868??? as the 2 year old Mary is her daughter. I expect having been born in the Workhouse was because of lack of funds being Poor etc.

Thank you for finding this out for me, just wonder what happened to Mary Ann Parker b 1868...? strange she disappears. between the birth 1888 and 1891.
Thanks.

I can't see the family on the 1881 yet. It may be worth noting that on the 1891 census both Mary and William's birth place is given as Fulham Infirmary. (Workhouses often had infirmaries for the poor too)

Can you confirm that Maria on the 1871 census is the same Mary Ann Parker who gave birth in Fulham Irfirmary please? Might we be looking for her as Maria rather than Mary Ann on later census?

Hi My Grandmother was born in Fulham Workhouse in 1888 her name is Mary Ann Parker, same as her mother b1868.
Father not listed on birth certificate, but g/father Benjamin Parker listed as "g/father" on census records.
I am trying to find what happened to my gt. grandmother as cannot find any details of her after the birth of my g/mother, she doesn't appear on the 1901c or the 1891c? Is there anyway of finding her?
tks linda.
