I am trying to find George Green born Grimsby c1833. He is the father of Samuel Johnson Green born in Little Grimsby c 1872. I believe George married Eliza Ann (or may be Elizabeth Ann). I don't seem to be able to find any information on George, other than he was deceased before son Samuel married in 1893

Hello MarieCeleste
I haven't done a great deal, only recently started. But I have Samuel Johnsons' marriage certificate naming the father George. Searched Free bmd, Genes reunited for census records etc. Plus enquired with family

Hi Allan, where did you get Eliza(beth) Ann's name for George's wife?

When asking on the boards, it's really useful if you can tell the helpers what info you've got, and where you got it from. If you've found him on the census you need to say when and where.

Info re: occupations is also very helpful.

It appears to be Emma, per that 1871 census I posted.

Hello MarieCeleste
It look a possible. I was informed by a relative the the wife of George was Eliza Ann, but it could be they were incorrect. The birth year of Samuel is thereabouts, as is his area of birth. I have searched census records, but I was looking for Eliza as his wife. Thank you. I will redirect my search.

Allan - best starting point so you can be sure of accuracy is to get Samuel's birth certificate - that will give mother's name.

Sadly, relatives knowledge is not always as accurate as they believe it to be!

Do come back on this thread if you need more help.

Good luck!

Hello MarieCeleste
I had the first page of the 1881 census in my records. But it did not go down to Samuel & Emma. How do you get to a following page when the family continues overleaf?
