Have you tried a street search on friends reunited, there may be a neighbour listed who knew the family,
Good luck,
Liz

It would help if you explained your search, although it's understood that it can be sensitive.

Is there a reason that information about the other occupants would help find information about Violet Wilson?

There's only one Florence E Threakall birth in England/Wales:

Births Mar 1903
Threakall Florence Ellen W. Ham 4a 88

(although I don't see a marriage or death for that name)

So it seems unlikely that all residents at the address were single mothers, for instance. ;)

Thank you so much for your replies.
Street search is a good idea and I will give it a try.

The reason I am interested in the address is becouse it was the home address given by my late mother when she was discharged from the local maternity Hosp after my illigitimate birth.

Unfortunaly I no longer have any surving members of my family to question and I am finding it difficult to research recent history.

That's what I thought, Patricia, just didn't want to be indelicate.

I tried for a while to find info on the other residents -- subsequent marriages, births around that time, but without much luck. It's possible that Florence Threakall was the matron of a home for unmarried mothers, and the others were residents.

Finding a member of her family might produce some info about her that would clarify that situation.

There are several Threakall births 1900-1911 in West Ham. Interestingly, two of them have middle name Pankhurst!

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

I can't find any Threakalls in the 1911 census, even with wildcards.

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

1901 has these

Henry Threakall abt 1846 Netwell, Essex, England Head West Ham, Essex
Mary L Threakall father Henry abt 1868 West Ham, Essex, England Daughter West Ham, Essex

Agnes Threakall abt 1883 West Ham, Essex, England Boarder

About the only available marriage:

Marriages Sep 1898
Still Elizabeth Ann Orsett 4a 746
THREAKALL Henry William Orsett 4a 746

Somebody here at GR has William 1882 and Agnes 1906 -- she was Agnes Pankhurst Threakall -- in their tree (just search trees for the surname, no other info needed). It might be worth enquiring.

How stupid, I did a search of the 1911 for *eakall and didn't look at the results.

Household:

SHREAKALL WILLIAM 1845 66 West Ham Essex
SHREAKALL MARY LYDIA 1868 43
SHREAKALL HARRY WILLIAM 1873 38
SHREAKALL ELIZABETH ANN 1878 33
SHREAKALL AGNES ALICE MAUD 1884 27
SHREAKALL AGNES PANKHURST 1907 4
SHREAKALL FLORENCE DAISY 1906 5
SHREAKALL WILLIAM PANKHURST 1910 1

All three Florence Ellens in the 1911 of the right age born in West Ham are accounted for in birth registrations.

Many thanks will try your suggestion and let you know if I have any success.

Maybe there is a Pankhust connection as I understand that many of the sufferjets avoided the 1911 census by not adding thier names as a further protest

I just killed that entire theory.

Deaths Jun 1903
Threakall Florence Ellen age:0 W. Ham 4a 29

So who was Florence E Threakall in 1948??

JaneyCanuck Report 11 Apr 2011 16:06

There was a George birth with mother George in West Ham in 3rd quarter 1948 - ?

Two people have that name with birthplace only "UK" in trees here at GR.

There was a Newnham-Newnham birth in West Ham in 3rd quarter 1948.

So sorry should have mentioned before that my mothers name doesn't appear on the electroll roll as she wouldn't have been 21 at the time.

The reason for picking out the Violet Wilson at the address was becouse I think that was my mothers friend.
I have vague memories of visiting her in Forest Gate when I was a child.

So tracking Violet Wilson I think is my best bet dont you?
