I am completely stuck and wondered if anyone could help me find my grgrgr grandfather. He is on the 1911 census in Salford in Margaret St with his wife Charlotte nee Evison b 1872 Sheffield m 1890. He was born in Neston Cheshire in 1868. On the 1901 census Charlotte is married and the head James her husband is missingOn the 1891 census they are together in West Salford and he is described as being born in Little Neston Cheshire. What I would love to find in James on the 1861, 1871 and 1881 census and who his father was. On James and Charlotte's marriage certificate James' father is named as James Williams a servant. Family legend says he was born in the 1840s and was a farmer in Wales as well as a professional soldier at one time. I have found a record on the 1911 census in Duke Street Cheshire which might be him but I'm not sure.Any help on where James b 1868 Neston was before 1891 and in 1901 and any information on his father would be much appreciated.ThanksIngrid |

I sent a possible birth by PM, as I was unable to post the details on here, due to the site's problem. |

As Neston is in The Wirral, I wonder if he was just being very specific about his birthplace. Could this be him in Birkenhead? (Sorry my English geography isn't too hot) |

I think you will need to purchase James and Charlotte's marriage certificate Ingrid which will give you the name and occupation of James father. |

He could, of course, be a 'Farm Servant' ??? - i.e. a 'posh' name for an Ag. Lab ??, |
