I amt rying to find details of my husband's great grandmother Caroline, who was the common law wife of Philip Willis. She is listed as being born in Chelsea in 1853, but Brown may be a married name, prior to living with Phlip. Any information would be welcome.

Cannot work out(illegible) how long the marriage was claimed to have lasted.

Common law wife.
He still married?
She still married?
They could not be bothered?
Brown is not the easiest of names, and if the 3 census entries are correct she has only claimed Chelsea once, and the much vaguer London twice.
