Can anyone supply me with information on Hugh Bennett born in Armadale West Lothian on 23rd nov 1910 who moved to usa in late 1930s i think married Ruth Keenan from New Jersey and died in march 1982 in New London Connecticut. Any information would be very much appreciated.

What is "any information", Andrew? Ancestors, descendants ...?

If you're looking for his parents and farther back, have you

- got his birth certificate from ScotlandsPeople?
- looked for him in the 1911 census at ScotlandsPeople?

SP is entirely pay per view (and you would have to order his birth certificate), so you have to buy credits at the site to do those yourself.

Hi Andrew

My understanding is the last census published in US is 1930's so that won't help. You may be able to find an obituary for him or his wife. Other than that perhaps travel to and from US on Find my past or Ancestry. The military may be another option. Unless anyone else has any other ideas.

There is this one on Ancestry but travel date is a lot earlier:

New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957
Passenger Lists

Name: Hugh Bennett
Arrival Date: 30 Sep 1928
Birth Year: abt 1911
Birth Location: Scotland
Birth Location Other: armadale
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/Race-
/Nationality: Scottish (Scotish)
Port of Departure: Glasgow, Scotland
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Transylvania

This is the only one I can find.

Ah.

I had done a passenger search at FMP, of course, but with a start date of 1930, given the information supplied ......

Unfortunately, I don't know how his 1928 passenger record would lead to descendants in the US.

-- Well I guess if he were found in the 1930 US census it could. A possible:

Hugh Bennett
Bergen, New Jersey
abt 1911
no place of birth shown
appears to be unmarried living with a parent?
I don't subscribe for details

There are several Ruth Keenans in New Jersey.

What info is there on US death certs?

Perhaps you should get Hugh's, if you don't already have it?

How did you learn the place and date of his death?

hi
u.s social security index gave me his death date and place of death. Then i checked connecticut deaths on a u.s web site and which gave me details of his wife ruth and his last place of residence. But i cant find any record of his marriage or if he had any children.

Did you notice that his Social Security Number was issued in Ohio? Ruth's in New Jersey.
