Sorry been away for a few days, found out about my half sister and brother through one of my aunties, unfortunately the only info she could give me was their names and the name of their father.
As far as i can gather my mother never divorced and never remarried. My fathers name is David John Squirrell and yes I was born in Kent. My mother also had more children with a man called William Paine. I would be very grateful for any info anyone could shed on my half sister and brother.

Christine .A birth in both surnames indicates the parents weren't married but the father was present at the registration, Technically the child could be known by either surname so when looking up for a birth in either surname you get the same GRO ref, Its only one birth cert though.

p.s. Tracy has got her mothers name in her tree on here.

Can a birth be registered twice? Same reference, same place, same quarter, same mmn, same first name, just a different surname?

Jonesey You are correct

I went the other way :-S
Tracy Appleby backwards :-S

Just with Tracy saying mother's FIRST marriage, I did not expect Tracy to be a Bailey

Thanks

Technically these are your half sister and brother rather than your step brother and sister.

Did your mother divorce or did she and her husband simply part? There are several possibilities of what may have happened to the children. They may have remained with either parent. They may have been raised by other family members. They may have been taken into care, fostered or adopted. Their names may have remained the same or have been changed depending upon circumstances.

The encouraging sign is that there does not appear to be any likely deaths recorded for them under their birth names.

Bearing in mind therefore that they are probably still alive and that this is a public forum and anything that is posted on it can be viewed worldwide, under what circumstance did you learn about their existence?

When did your mum remarry ? <<<<<<<<<<<<<<

cos there are MORE Bailey/Whitcher children than the 2 you have mentioned ?

PS if you share the same mum, they are your half siblings

Hi Jonesey,

I haven't got a middle name or initial for Jean Bailey, but there is a J as the middle initial for Raymond bailey.
My mothers name was Olive Florence Whitcher and their fathers name was William A Bailey.

This is all the info I have at the moment.

Tracy,

I don't know whether it will help you at all but I note that those people mentioned all had a second initial. A second name or initial can sometimes help to differentiate between possible BMD records of those we seek.

Trying to find any info on the above people. I have found out that they are my brother and sister from my mothers first marriage. I seem to be drawing a blank on everything apart from when they were born. Mothers name is Olive Whitcher and fathers name is William Bailey. Any help anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Tracy
