There are tho umpteen Reg district Gateshead where they married and several for lanchester too

Could be very costly trying to sort them out as there is no checking points now on the GRO website ordering

Looking again at the info Its possble they weren;t born in Scotland as they were still in Lanchester in 1909 when Bartholomew was born.

The 1911 census states 3 children died so theres no point looking after 1911 for the mising children.

They may not have been born in Scotland. they could have been between some of the children born in Durham.

If you look at the ages of the children and see if there are any gaps larger than the usual gap then check on FreeBMD to see if there are any Quinn children born and died in the areas they lived.

Unfortunately you arent going to know if they are YOUR Quinn's without buying some death certs.Children certs have on them under the occupation column ,son or daughter of and the fathers names. There's no short cuts I,m afraid

I have tried the scottish people site but got 18 results and can't seem to get it narrowed down

Found the census!

Charles Quinn, aged 33, Coal Miner, born ENGLAND
Sarah Quinn, wife, aged 32 years, married 15 years, Pedler, b. ENGLAND

Children Charles, aged 11; Thomas aged 5; Bartholomew,aged 2 were all born in England.
These are the only 3 of the 6 living children with their parents.
Also living there are in-laws Michael Kelly aged 25 a Cutler and his wife Elizabeth Kelly aged 20 years who have been married for 1 year with no children.

If Sarah and Charles married in Scotland then the name of Charles' mother will be on the marriage certificate (including her maiden surname). Have you found Charles on earlier census with his parents please? From my experience researching Quinns in Scotland the surname can sometimes be found as Queen. I have know families where some of the children fom the same marriage are registered as Quinn and some as Queen.


Have you tried searching for the children's deaths before 1911? IF you think that they died between 1906 and 1911 in Edinburgh that should reduce the number of results for your search.

Can you please give us the full details of the 1911 census to help? When do you think that Charles and Sarah married? A birth registration of one of the children on the 1911 census will give the date and place of the parents marriage.

I can't see a marriage on SP for Charles Quinn and Sarah Kelly.........from the 1911 census, where were Charles and Sarah born? You may need to get one of the childrens' birth certs. to find out where they were married. Were all the children born in Scotland?

Hi, yes.Got 18 results so paid £7 only got view some of them and none were correct. Some don't have images and you cant add mother and fathers names to filter it down a bit :-(

You can not view online Scottish births within the last 100 years but Scotlandspeople website would give the info needed to order the certs

Hi, could anyone help me find 3 birth records for children born in Edinburgh Scotland. i believe they were between 1906 and 1916. the parents are
Sarah Kelly b 1880 and Charles Quinn b 1878. On the 1911 census they are living at Cowgate Edinburgh with 9 children born but only 6 surviving. I would like to find the 3 children that have been born and their death details if possible.
Also Charles Quinn the father b 1878, i can find no records of his parents, his father is named John but i believe he was Scottish too
