Kirsten,

I should contact GR and explain what is happening to you.

I admit, GR has been running very slowly on and off for a little while now but never THAT slowly!!!

I do not know of anyone else who has had the problem which you describe. - Slowness of site yes but 'time delays' like that - No !

Hi Kirsten
This site has been experiencing problems for quite some time now, which is frustrating for all of us to say the least!!

Hang on in there...........hopefully things will improve soon.

This was posted on 'Announcements' on November 7th:
'The site is running painfully slow at the moment. We have a database issue that is being investigated. Our apologies to everyone affected. We are trying to rectify this as quickly as possible.

UPDATE 6AM: The site has been stable overnight, and will be monitored continuously during the day. Our investigations are continuing and we hope to make improvements within the next 48 hours to alleviate some of the issues experienced.

Please note, the GEDCOM processing was switched off while we monitored the situation. It is now running again, picking up all requests made in the last 12 hours.'

Hi all,
Thanks for the info on reading threads, I have discovered now that the problem is a time delay.
It took 4o mins last night to get onto this site, then when I managed to log in I posted a reply to a question at about 9pm on the 7th nov and this morning at 6.51am this message is still not on the system 8th nov, I am losing a bit of faith on this site as I was advised when posting questions and threads to stay nearby as helpers often ask question and respond quickly. I have to say the questions that I have asked have all been answered by voulenteers with a lot of help and detail in a friendy and useful way, but through no fault of theirs, this site has been so slow in the 2 days since I subscribed that I have not yet been able to reply to any of there questions with speed which has probably left them quite frustrated and anoyed when they have been giving up their free time to help me.
Does anyone know why this site has been so slow?

No, GR do not check anything on the boards, apart from messages posted on 'Success' board, unless asked to do so.

Replies posted on all other threads are there instantly

Did you, by chance, click on the column headed 'replies' insted of on the title of the thread?

Thankyou for your help, after I posted my thred it took about 30mins for me to access my replies. I could see that 4 people had replied but it wouldnt let me look at them. Does GR check messages possibly before letting you read them? maybe that was the delay?
I was waiting by computer so I could respond if I had any help.
Thanks to all that helped me.

don't think so - or I was sleeping too1! I think maybe she saw the posting with four replies and didnlt realise she had to click on it to open it?

Does that mean that one is now notified about replies to threads?
Did I sleep through that announcement as I thought one of the problems was that one was not told about replies?

Ann OGG,

If Kirsten can't access her earlier thread, she may not see your reply either. Might be better to PM
