Isabella McMillan 1836-1916
both from Lanarkshire, Scotland, married and went to live in New
Zealand where they had 8 children. The first was born in 1863 and died
in 1949 (Thomas). Other children were Marion, James, William, Margaret,
Isabella, David and Ann.

That could be William - he didn't marry until the following year. Maybe he was boarding with brother and sil?

James McMillan and Marion Wilson
All were deceased at the time of marriage
It might be worthwhile buying some credits for Scotlands People to see if you can find their deaths, If they died after 1855 it would give their parents names.

Thomas and Margaret both died in 1858.
James died 1862, Marion must have died before 1855.
