Jax
at the moment I have made loads of notes and got myself in a bit of a mess I'm not sure if I've got some of the Millingtons mixed up so have left the Jackson's on hold at the moment
If you have any ideas or good tips it would help
I think I will have to go back to where I was right and retrace just one line at a time for now I think I will try and concentrate on the Millingtons
I have found some more info which could be WM b1791 / 1794 but I will probably have to take a trip to the archives whan I can get the time

Regards
Mary

Sorry Jax
I think I try to find so many different family members at the same time and it all gets a little confusing then I go off on a tangent and forget where I started and end up on a different line on the tree remind me who stepdaughter/in law you mean

Mary

jax

jax Report 2 Dec 2011 20:43

Yes it would be daughter in law.
You will find there a re a lot of strange things on the census just like that other thread of yours, where the child was born before they married but was called by both names.

Also the daughter in law when it should be step daughter (which you have not replied to by the way)

Most ordinary people were illiterate back then, plus they probably did not know about what the relationship was to them, or the enumerator miss heard what was said

MarieCeleste Report 2 Dec 2011 20:43

Hi Mary, yes, it's quite possible that they've recorded Amelia as the daughter, not too unusual for that to happen. It does show both Joseph and Amelia with a status of "married".

The census for 1851 was taken March 30th.

As Jax said earlier, don't be too concerned on ages on census being a year or two out (sometimes more).

I cannot see what the problem is with the year of birth. The ages can vary quite a bit between census's

Sounds a good match except date on census it as 1829 and on marriage cert it is 3rd feb 1851 and age 21 and I have found a death which was 1901 1st Q age 72 which would also make him b 1829

Hello,

I have Joseph Millington's marriage cert and his father is named William Millington (engineer) I am trying to find details about William Millington but it is a common name and I'm having trouble sorting out who's who
On the 1861 census it as Joesph b1829 in Bilston which I think came under Sedgley back then I have looked for William in Bilston round about 1800's but so far no luck
