Jenny Report 10 Jan 2012 10:22

FIRSTLY I HAVE A THOMAS COX ( FROM HAMPSHIRE ) BORN AROUND 1826 WHO MARRIED A FANNY MARIA CHIVERTON ( LYMINGTON ) IN 1846 IN PORTSEA.THEY HAD 4 CHILDREN DINAH, HENRY, GEORGE AND FEDERICK. I DONT KNOW WHO THOMAS PARENTS OR SIBLINGS ARE, I HAVE SEARCHED THE RECORDS AND OTHER TREES AND HAVE ONLY GOT MORE QUESTIONS AND A BIG HEADACHE .
SECONDLY IN THE 1851 CENSUS THOMAS AND FANNY HAD A ALBERT COX ( BORN 1836 HAMPSHIRE ) LIVING WITH THEM ( AS WELL AS THERE CHILDREN )IT SAYS ON THE CENSUS THAT IT IS HIS SON BUT ALBERT IS TOO OLD AND FANNY DID NOT HAVE A CHILD PREVIOUS I CAN ONLY ASSUME HE IS A NEPHEW BUT FROM WHERE???.
I AM ALL OUT OF ANSWERS TO THIS NOW AND THIS IS ALL THE INFO I HAVE ( SORRY ITS NOT MUCH TO GO ON ) SO ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED
THANK YOU JENNY

The marriage cert to Fanny should name his father, if known

Have you looked for his baptism on family search site ?

Hi

The census record I saw said thomas was 24 yrs old I always thought it was odd and this makes perfect sence as thomas was born in Boldre.
What was I looking at??

Thanks Jenny

This looks like your family in 1851 - looking at the original I would think THomas' age reads ? 41 not 24 (and Henry's 13 not 3). This would make Thomas old enough to be Alberts father

so their eldest was Albert aged 15 so born c 1836 which would tie with the 1835 marriage

greyghost

greyghost Report 10 Jan 2012 10:48

Is this perhaps Thomas in 1841 - Albert is there age 5? So maybe Thomas was married before. Tis would then allow for the 1846 marriage and the big gap in ages of the first two then second two children. Thomas is an Ag. LAb
