I wonder if anyone can help me please. I am researching an ancestor of mine her name was Anna Dorothea Hergott (on some documents she is Dorothea Anna). She was born 1824-1826 circa. She may have been born in one of three places: Tangermünde in Germany, Konigsberg (now Berlin), or Konigsburg (now Kaliningrad in Russia). I know she was supposed to have come from East Prussia. It is difficult to know if some of my sources are accurate or not as it all happened so long ago.
She was born into a wealthy Jewish family. At some point she must have converted to Christianity as she became a deaconess at the Gossner Mission in Berlin. She also trained as a nurse and worked in the Gossner hospital.
In 1845 She left Germany with two other female missionaries on a ship destined for the Chatham Islands. It arrived in March 1846 where five male Lutheran missionaries awaited them and the three women were married to three of the men.
I have read some books about German missionaries in the Chathams including Sheila Natusch's 'Hell and High Water' and have also had some help from two members of GR who also have her on their family trees. I think I have a fairly accurate picture of the events that took place during her life from this point on.
It is her earlier life that I would love to find out more about if possible. My hope is another of her descendants who knows more about her earlier life than I do will see this and help me out.
She was first Married to a Müller with whom she had two sons. She was widowed and later she married a Regnault and they had several children.

Thank you so much for your interest. Sorry, I forgot to mention the Chatham Islands are in New Zealand. I think I have come across your Anna Dorothea in Ontario and I wondered if there was a connection. My Anna Dorothea passed away in 1901 in the Chathams. Perhaps the two were related?

Thank you very much for all your information. The dates that you have don't seem to be the same as my ADH (1824-6 circa to 1901) but perhaps there is a family connection? I know that official documents sometimes misspell names. More than one source has ADH's surname as being Hergott but there is another spelling to this surname, Herrgott. Thank you again.
