Interesting Choccy. Several of us have her marrying B´ham 1898 & Minnie born 1900. (She was named after Leah´s younger sister)
Will check it out.

On their arrival in USA in 1907 there is just Wm., 30, Leah, 29 and Harold, 9 or 9 months? (Neither of which makes sense.)
He's a cotton operative, heading to Pawtuckett, Rhode Island. Relative at home, his mother Ann Smith, 14 Hodgson St., Ashyon u Lyne.

Thanks Margee. Definitely a different William & Leah. This William was a chandelier worker (whatever that was) & he was a year older than Leah.
Thank you both for the info.

So he's not the one that Choccy posted on the 1910 census? He's a cloth inspector.

Found my 2 in 1911. Oddly there are 3 children & the census says 3 born to the marriage, all living, yet no Minnie. She was with them in 1901 & it´s the same couple, they are living in the same court as 2 of Leah´s sisters & their families. Very odd. Had they forgotten about Minnie, who I´m sure must be the one whose death you found Margee.

Choccy.
That looks even more likely than the one I found who were still in the same area as 1901 with children GeorgeF, William & Leah.
How many William & Leah Smiths were there I wonder. Leah isn´t a particularly common name, even if William Smith is. Thank goodness her name wasn´t Ann or Mary.
Thanks. I´m sure youve got the right one this time.
off to the other site which shall remain nameless, to make some amendments.
