trying to find Helen Poulton born 1897 islington She is on the 1901 census with Parents Charles Poulton and Caroline A Poulton I note that Charles is only 20 and Helen is 4 years old so tried to find birth entry under Mums Maiden name Brett Could not find Birth entry under that or Poulton Cant find her on 1911 census Any help much appreciated Thanks Pam

He was with wife Caroline and daughter Maud (Helen Maud?) but I don't think they did actually travel as names are crossed off list.

EDIT: There is a Canadian arrival for the same family in June 1907.

I think Charles, Caroline & Maud were on a later ship and disembarked at Montreal. . Caroline is just listed as Mrs Poulton but Maud's name is listed.

The number of children in the 1911 census should refer to the existing marriage, not any previous one.

Another problem is that Charlie is aged 10 on the 1911 census so he should really show up in 1901. I can't see him.

No, I could not see Charles either, but there are births in 1901.
Perhaps he was born April 1st 1901?
Equally, William Cluer appears to be married in 1901, but not living with wife, and I did a quick search and could not find him in 1891.

There is not conclusive proof that the Caroline Poulton in 1901 is Caroline Cluer in 1911.
There appears to be at least one other Caroline Poulton giving birth in London around 1895 to 1905.

William Charles Cluer first wife was Elizabeth Ward His Father was George Lane Cluer It is a complicated family with children from other marriages I am researching this because my Sister is married to the Grandson of William Charles Cluer. I am piecing things together slowly and may have some more clues tomorrow as I am visiting my Sister this weekend It is Helen and the other missing children that I am trying to find at the moment Also Albert Cluer (son of William Charles ) born 1911 left home at 14 and not sure why? There was big rifts in the family My Sisiters husband knew about his Dad leaving home at 14 Thanks for all your replies sorry for delay got called away last night Pam
