I am currently stuck on John Boulton (the father) who 'possibly' married to a Margaret Reed. John born around 1847 and was unable to find anything..

I have got his son's birth cert who was born in 1870 (printed one) gaven by my auntie, and I have got John and Margaret also with his brother and sisters on Cenus 1911 but seems not able to find Margaret's birth information nor marriage cert on ancentry.co.uk. Also not able to find them before 1911.

They lived in Bentley, Bentley with Arksey in Yorkshire. Can anyone help me on this and I cant break the wall at the moment with this.

To find marriages - look on freebmd

You should realise that until 1875, there weren't any penalties for NOT registering births, so you may have to accept that the births simply weren't registered.

Try looking for baptisms

BUT - to find out the names of their fathers, buy the marriage cert.

If you're going to be picky about spelling in the mid-19th century, when most people were illiterate, you're not going to get far
