This gent was my paternal grandfather born 14th July 1861 Tunstall Lodge Burdon Co Durham Father Matthew Bainbridge a gardener Mother Jane Bainbridge formerly Rutter
in later years Robert was apprenticed and became blacksmith working at Cleadon. Eventualy migrated to Sussex & married Emma Jane Bacon in Broadwater Worthing and strangely his father Matthew has now become a
vetinary surgeon according to marriage cert & Robert is still a blacksmith
The curious thing that interests me is that while searching for my grandfather Robert Rutter Parker Bainbridge I found a Robert Rutter "PARK" Bainbridge also born in Cleadon Whitburn district also a blacksmith who's Father 's name is also Matthew Married to Alice Bell Nicholson they had a son christened Robert Rutter also found via census that a one time my grandfathers parents & Robert Rutter PARK were all living in Rothsay St Monkwearmouth Sunderland namely at No's 17 & 57 "NIGGLE" ??! are there two Mr Bainbridges with remarkably similar christian names with fathers named Matthew same age same area or was grandfather a very active Blacksmith ??
