My Great Grandmother was born 1884. Her parents were married 1866. I would assume there were probably other siblings born inbetween them marrying and having my Great Grandmother. Given that I can find no trace of them on any of the census's, is there any other way I can find out about other births? My Great Grandmother was born at home (address on her birth cert). I suspect I can't find the family due to spelling errors in the surname so is there a way I can do a census search (or any kind of search!) by the address given on the birth cert?

Would appreciate any help with this.....it's driving me crackers that I can't find any trace of the family! :-S

It's entirely possible that the child born 1884 was the only product of the marriage.

Do you have the 1866 marriage cert...........verifying that it is actually for that particular child's parents?

If you give us FULL details.......we can try to help.

There is loads of info on the other thread you started on this person yesterday:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1301586

I realise that you are new but you really must keep just to one thread on the same person or family as people are now duplicating the work already done by others yesterday.

It is too late to delete either now as they both have many posts but I will put a message on your other thread telling people of this one so they can at least check what has already been found.

Please read the guidelines as to how things work on here which is sticked at the top of the board.

Thanks,

Dea x

Thanks guys......Rose is a name that I have come across as one of 2 witness on Minnie's marriage cert (Rose Ward and Joseph Ward) and I had wondered if she was a married sibling seeing as Ward is not a family name. I will probably order this birth cert along side the marriage cert of the parents, see if the info matches.

I've not been able to find the family on the 1891 census though, which would have Minnie as around 7 years old. Will have another look in a mo....

Really appreciate the help with this....it's the one part of the family that no one knows anything about! <3

ErikaH Report 17 Aug 2012 10:15

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!

2010 and 15 posts isn't really all that 'new'

I'm outa here

Michelle

Michelle Report 17 Aug 2012 10:18

@Dea....this thread was initailly just a general enquiry as i was hoping someone would just give ideas as to how to search for family I could not find on census's. Hence no info in the first post, and it being seperate to the other thread I started a couple of months ago. I had searched the boards first but couldn't find the info I was looking for.

Michelle

Michelle Report 17 Aug 2012 10:29

Thanks for that info Reggie....I have full membership but not sure how you manage to get all the info you have.....guess I'm doing something wrong...

Also....I've been a member here since 2010 but did nothing with the site other than load info onto my tree for the first year, and contact a couple of relatives my mum thought had died. I've only been doing 'proper' searches via the census's since just before xmas and would consider myself new to it compared to many others who have been doing this for years. I appreciate the help you've given but being a member since 2010 does not necessarily mean I know all there is to know when it comes to researching!

And the 15 posts have only been over the last few weeks.....so not sure why it's a problem with me asking for help?? I've not used the boards until recently.....so you cant assume that people who have been members for 2 years know all there is to know and read all the forums.....cause I don't.

Michelle

Michelle Report 17 Aug 2012 10:33

@MarieCeleste....what site do you use to get all that info? I've only used Genes and have had to order certificates to get the info you have just posted!

Michelle

Michelle Report 17 Aug 2012 10:59

I would also like to add that between September 2010 and August 2011, I had no internet access at all, having moved twice. I appreciate you get alot of time wasters who want everyone else to do the searching for them for free but I can assure you I am not one of them. I just wanted to pointing in the right dircting in order to do the search myself.

Many thanks to everyone for your help and sorry if you feel I have been wasting your time. Won't bother you again. X

MarieCeleste Report 17 Aug 2012 10:59

Michelle - that marriage is from Ancestry - they have quite a few Parish records collections and other good stuff.

Now, don't go flouncing off and you're not bothering (all of) us.

Now you know how things work then fire away if you need more help. If it's a query about the same family then just add to existing thread.

Happy hunting :-)

And don't be worrying your head about it. We all made mistakes on here when we were new. ;-)

Michelle,

PLEASE do not be put off from asking for help - as Prickles has said, we all make mistakes when we first start using the boards!

I realise that the second thread was only started as a general one but it so easily became a duplicate request when you were asked for more info. - This is what happens and I am sure you can now see why it is not a good idea to have 2 threads on the same subject.

Not only do we end up duplicating the research, which was why I posted the link to your first thread, but you also have the difficulty of having to follow both threads.

Far better for all of us to have all the info together.

Do have a look at ALL the info on both and then come back to us and let us know what else you need.

We will be very happy to try to help.
