A note on sources:

I'm guessing Ann's baptism came from:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list#page=1®ion=UNITED_KINGDOM_IRELAND

Mike's post of:
Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1906
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
TURNER William RIDGARD Louisa B Salford St Luke Salford C33/4/188
came from http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/

Salford St Luke was more commonly known as Weaste St Luke, and Barbara's post comes from:
http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/

There's also another collection at FS, namely:
England, Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Parish Registers, 1603-1910
This collection is only partly indexed, and sometimes you have to browse images to find your target - then it's very helpful to note the entry#=188 embedded in Mike's post. However, in this case, it is indexed, and you can get the image of Mabel's parents' m.cert via:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FMR5-T68

Thats wonderful, Yvette , I am so pleased.

Yes Ann, it was your post of the baptism, what a great find, I am sure without that we wouldn't have found the rest so easy, thank you.

Best wishes

If that 1911 census is right there is this matching death for father William.

Deaths Mar 1942 (>99%)
Turner William 87 Salford 8d 713

and the probate to go with it:

died 8 Jan 1942 at 19 Pembroke St Salford. Administration to RobertTurner of no occupation.

pleased for you that that baptism sparked off all that info for you and that you were able to confirm it was correct.

Good hunting with the rest.

Hi Yvette
Thank you for your thanks to us all, and I do hope it is the right Mabel for you,

To be really sure you really could do with Mabel's marriage cert, without that all the info may be wrong !!

Someone on Ancestry has Albert in their tree --but no wife recorded, they have his death as

Name: Albert Vernon Mellor
Birth Date: 27 Sep 1905
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1974
Age at Death: 68

Registration district: Trafford

Inferred County: Cheshire
Volume: 39
Page: 1944

Now I am wondering ---did Mabel move back to Salford before she died, or have we the wrong death index for your Mabel !!

Hope you can see why the marriage cert is is so important, It will give Mabels age and fathers name and occupation --to verify (or not) that we are on the right track for your Mabel.

Best wishes
Barbara xx

very grateful Yvette xx :-D

I wasn't too sure as it says Louise Bertha on marriage to Edward but everything else fits, so maybe just a mistake on the "e" and "a" .

Hope these are the right parents for the Mabel that Yvette is looking for :-)
