James Bayly and Frances Lovett are on the same page in the marriage register (there are usually two marriages per page). St Martins is the Registration district where the marriages took place and 1a 579 are the volume and page numbers for the entries in the GRO index. You would need them if you order certs from the GRO.

As you have the marriage cert, please could you give us all the info from it - father's names and occupations; bride and groom's ages, occupations and addresses, and the witnessess.

As Reggie said on your other thread, you need to work backwards methodically. As to other people's trees, always check everything yourself - there are a lot of incorrect trees out there.

On the marriage certificate what was his father's occupation please and who were the witnesses?
Don't worry about the other couple on the marriage registration they are nothing to do with your people. Their marriage is just transcribed to the same page and volume in the registry.

Do you have James's marriage certificate? If not, where did you find his father's name?

Could this be his marriage in London? In 1861 census his wife is shown as Sarah.

So his Uncle was William born Salisbury in 1820. Are you sure his father was born in 1775?
