Oh yes, Jan. Spent the last 10 years on the Fish lot, from first marriage of Margaret (Duxbury). I am descended from second marriage to John Davies. Margaret 1878 is my g grandmother. John D is also a mystery, appears in Glossop for the first time on the above census, isn't married to Margaret till 1890, says he is a widower. Separate thread on John Davies of Flintshire. No sign.

Margaret and John have three kids. Llewellyn, Margaret and Mary (Sep 1881).

Traced them all except Llewellyn, through to death.

I will get that birth in 1908.

Wow, Kay has got him, definitely. He served 12 years, and rose to be a Sergeant.

Thanks so much, Kay.

No sign of him in 1911, have searched FMP emigrations, but many with no age/date of birth.

Forgotten what overseas records there are, can anyone remind me?

wonder if he was called up again in 1914 ......... he would have been well within the age range.

My grandfather was born in 1875, was married with 3 children when he was called up in 1915.

Madmeg Report 8 Dec 2012 00:03

Possible death found in 1916, place unknown. Sent for certificate, though I doubt it will tell me much.

Still doesn't tell me where he was in 1911. He might not have returned to Glossop, so could be anywhere.
