Find Ancestors

Can anyone out there help me please? I believe my great uncle Henry (Harry) Coulson joined the army in 1919. I believe he was posted to India and contracted a disease. He was sent to a hospital in London and died. His mother died in 1921 and she visited him in hospital before she died. I have no knowledge of the date of his death or where he was buried. I think he may have joined the 15th (The King's) Hussars. I have two photos of him.
Has anyone any advise as to where to start looking. All military records that I have searched so far only show details of soldiers who served between 1914 and 1918.

thank you for your reply. I have my gret uncles birth certificate - he was born in Leeds in July 1901. He wasn't married. I have no information about him after he was a patient in london hospital. Family stories say that he died in themhospital. I do not have the year of his admiitance into hospital nor the date of his death but I have tried to find a death in the records although it is difficult with such little information.

I have been on the site you mentioned and will apply for details of my great uncles records. However, I have 3 aunts who are next of kin and unfortunately they are all very old and infirm and would not be able to write permission for me. Under those circumstances do you think I would be able to write as next of kin if I explained the situation?

My Mum is still alive, but she is in her 90's, I didn't need her permission when I sent for my fathers service records., I just put my relationship and was sent the records,

How reliable are the family stories do you think?
Have you got his actual birth date, on the off-chance he lived a longer life and obliged us by dying 1969-2006!! Worth eliminating the possibility, unless your info is pretty solid obviously.

thanks for looking but it's not him. He was born 09.07.1901 in the district of Bramley in Leeds. Co-incidentally he was known as Harry but was Henry on the birth certifcate. When I've tried to find him I've used both names ie Henry and Harry just in case. I have looked at deaths up to 1979 just in case he did die later but it's difficult to know where he may have lived if he did survive. I have looked in London and Leeds but not found anyhting.

Gillan, obviously I have no idea if it that death is him, but I was looking for a death in the London area around the right time.
The birth year isn't an indication one way or the other as if he died in hospital it's more than possible the age was a bit out. In fact, it is exactly right, he would actually have been 23 when this was registered as he wasn't born until the June quarter.
