It was a good spot Erin! - I'd tried phonetic searches on freebmd but they didn't turn it up. Don't seem to be able to find James & Jane Myers, nor Margaret Balfour/Belford/? after this marriage - any more bright ideas?

Jane made her mark on the marriage record, so I would assume none of them could write - hence the problems with the variations on the name.

Flip...Thanks for that...Just a shot in the dark from my end....!!

Approx dob for Jane was 1852 so she would still be a minor for marriage 1871

Her father's name is right, but he is a cabinet maker?? He was blind and a general dealer on both census returns - so not sure about that marriage, when was Jane born please Kerri? It's just I would have thought she would have been 21 by the time of this marriage, so not a minor. (This record is from Ancestry parish records)

Jane Belford
Age: Minor
Marriage Date: 1 Oct 1871
Parish: Liverpool St Nicholas
Spouse's Name: James Myers <<miller
Father's Name: Alexander Belford
Spouse Father's Name: Lenard Myers << carter

Bride & groom both of Woodstock Street.

ADDED - It is the right marriage, Jane & her parents were living Woodstock street in 1871 - just took another look at the census!!

Thanks for finding possible death for Alexander & marriage for Jane. They are just the ideas I was hoping someone may come up with.

Apart from the 1871 census, can't see any deaths/marriages for any of them - wonder if they returned to Ireland??

Is this from your tree ?

Alexander Balfour
Birth 1807 in Ireland

Marriage to Margaret Hancock
15 Apr 1845

— Age: 38
Galway, Co Galway, Ireland
On marriage of Alexander & Margaret, his father is recorded as Alexander. So was witness Susan FELTERS (FELTUS,nee BALFOUR),the older sister of Alexander (junior) or his Aunt? Im inclined to think a married sister would more likely be a witness to marriage

Can anyone find what happened to Alexander BALFOUR b c 1807 Ireland, wife Margaret (nee HANCOCK) b c 1822 (either Ireland -1861 census or on board ship at sea-1871 census) & daughter Jane born 1852 Galway,Ireland?

In 1861 they were living in Liverpool & 1871 mistranscribed as BELFORT. (on this Jane said born Liverpool but its the correct family as Alexander is blind on both these census). Jane was born in Galway,Ireland-have birth cert & also marriage cert of Alexander & Jane.

Looking for any later census sightings of them or likely deaths/marriages etc

Thanks for any help
