Would someone be able to do a lookup for me at Scotlands people please. I am looking for birth and death info on this man and can find nothing. He was married to Elizabeth Caithness and they had 5 sons, John 1788 - William 1790 - David 1792 - Alexander 1799 and Joseph 1798.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,

Elizabeth

think you have to pay for Scotland's people

is Caithness a surname or a location?

Thank you all for your responses and apologies for not getting back sooner.
I have the above information but am trying to get back further than David Herald C1770 and Elizabeth Caithness C1770. They seem to have popprd up out of nowhere.
I have been able to find out a fair bit about their children though have only updated my tree to a certain point as I tend not to add anything unless I have solid proof.

I may just have to bite the bullet and pay Scotlands people to get the info I need. :-)

I should add also that someone suggestested a David Herald B1717 as his father but that seems a bit too far out of the realm of possibility as he died before my David was born.

Did the family follow the Scottish naming pattern for their children? If so, it would suggest that David's father was John.

A free search on Scotlandspeople brings up one result for David's death but nothing for his birth. There are 3 results for Elizabeth's birth. You would need to buy credits to view these.

It would seem so as David's eldest was John too. So that gives me a little more to look at. Thankyou for the help. :-D

Why do you think they were born around 1770?
To be 18 when their first child was born is a bit unusual for Scotland (though not impossible, of course!).

It just seemed to make sense they were about that age. Really I have no idea.

There are baptisms for both names on scotlandpeople, if you go back further for their DOBs.
