Eveie,

Christine, do you have any idea where in Ireland he was born?

Christine,
If you know that the father was called Edward, then I assume that you have the marriage certificate. In that case could you give his father's occupation please.
Where there any witnesses that may be siblings of William and what did he give as his address at the time of marriage?

You say his son Edward died in the war, maybe William also died in the war?

As he was noted as deceased on the marriage cert. of your parents, do you know if he was also noted as deceased on any siblings that married at an earlier date?

Did Edward die in WW1? If so, then do you have his army records to see who he noted as next of kin? If he noted his mother, then you know that William must of died before the date that Edward signed up, if not then that would at least narrow down a date!

Hi Catherine,

I would like to thank you for all of your help, we have tried several sites and you are the only one that has been able to help us. Special thanks for finding Bridget and Edward.

We really appreciate your help, we will continue to search for William Jordan.

Occupation of Edward - Labourer, William's occupation - Coal Heaver. The witnesses at Williams wedding were Joseph Thomas Baggley and Minnie Baggley.

Kind Regards,
Christine

Have you considered this death for William - this registration district covered Burslem and Tunstall at the time:

William Jordon

Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1919
Age at Death: 50
Registration district: Wolstanton
Inferred County: Staffordshire

The spelling of Jordon is also used on the death for Edward on the commonwealth war graves site, although Ancestry has it as Jordan as Christine has already posted.
