Thanks Maura...I am sure I got her WA marriage certificate (somewhere) and it said Bessie...must have taken her word for it! :-D

I could'nt find a birth/baptism for a Johnston, I think John James is him, as for the age difference, it all down to who fill in the census, in this case his father, so he may not of known his birth year and guessed it, it happens alot, back then people had little to no education, unless they came from a weathly family. Bessie is a pet name for Elizabeth.

...then again, he can't have been 13 in 1901 and 20 in 1911?! Maybe 1911 should read 23?

P.S. Andrew's father John LINDSAY was a butcher. Can't find him in censuses either! :-(

Just to verify - I know Eliza Jane CROMPTONs parents were James & Mary (nee ROBB) and that she was living in Derrygoon at the time of their marriage. How would I find details of James & Mary's marriage? I can't seem to find them in 1901 Census.

I have Andrew French LINDSAY's dob as 10 Oct 1915. To add to confusion, his headstone states he was born 10/10/1916!

His sister was my stepfather's mother Bessie Elizabeth LINDSAY, born c1914 - guessing this must be Eliza. (Bessie Elizabeth is the name given on her marriage cert., I alwasy thought it odd!)

I have Sadie in 1912 (not Sarah?) and May on 23 May 1911 (not May in 1910?)

Eldest Wm Jas as born in Newtown-stewart on 18 Apr 1909. Does that fit Castelderg location?

Got excited thinking I would find the other side as well, the LINDSAYs from Strabane, Tyrone but no such luck! They are hiding :-) Andrew b. c1887 & wife Eliza Jane b. c1884, they married in Jan 1909 and should have had son Wm (b. 1909) with them...? Any helpers please
